Summer Slam Success for Timbermen
August 24, 2008
The Junior Timbermen were well represented and played extremely well during the Summer Slam Field Tournament in Victoria on the weekend.
Russ Thomas, Jon Diplock, Kevin Lohr, Ryan Dietterle, Nick Agius, Morgan Mitchell and Curt Brown from the Junior Timbermen joined forces with members of the Under 19 Pacific Rim Field Lacrosse Association; those members are: Trevor Gains, Brandon Gains, Jon Browning, Glenn Foley and Cody Boon. Doug White from the Masters team (Victoria Guzzlers) did double duty for both the Pacific Rim/Timbermen squad and the Masters Division Guzzlers.
Facing Team 'Blown Potential', the squad put up some impressive numbers defeating the Senior aged players by the score of 8-1. Saturday morning, tehy faced the Pacific Northwest Champion Team Kavu, leading 4-1 at halftime, the squad maintained thier composure but could not hold off the quick and potent attack of the Kavu team, eventually losing 8-6. Later that afternoon, they faced Team Victoria and needed a victory to advance to the semi-final round. They played hard for the two 20 minute halves and held the Victoria team at bay for the remainder of their game and defeated them 7-5 to advance to the semi's.
Their opponent on Sunday morning was a formidable one. Facing Team Sweep; comprised of the Victoria Senior 'A' Shamrocks, our team was winning at halftime 4-3 but could not hold the likes of Lewis Ratcliff, Ryder Bateman and Curt Morwick for the entire second half, losing to the eventually tournament Champions by a score of 9-6.

Jr. Timbermen Fall Short
July 21, 2008
Playoffs are now over as the Junior 'A' Timbermen fall to the New Westminster Salmonbellies for the second time in as many years.
The Salmonbellies came in to the Harbour City with a 2-1 lead and the determination to end the series in four games. The Timbermen were looking to tie the series at 2 and force a 5th and deciding game but that would not happen on this day.
Taking a commanding 5-1 lead into the 2nd, it was a mountain that the hometown Timbermen could not climb for the 2nd day in as many contests. The 'Bellies won the 2nd period 2-0 and had a 7-1 lead after two periods; the game wasn't out of reach but proved to much for the young T-Men. The final score was 9-2 and marked the end of another positive season for the 4 year old franchise.
In the first year, the Timbermen finished with an 0-21 record, year two they got their first victory and ended with a 2-19 record. Year 3, the Timbermen finished at 5-16 and made the playoffs for the first time. This season; their record was 7-14, made the playoffs and tallied a victory on the road. All steps to becoming a promising franchise.
The Jr. A Timbermen would like to thank their 2008 sponsors and the lacrosse fans of Nanaimo for their support as attendance increased dramatically in the 2008 season; something the team needs in hopes to build a stong relationship with the surrounding lacrosse communities as it prepares now for the 2009 campaign and a possible bid to host the 2010 Canadian National Junior "A" Championship (Minto Cup).
First Playoff Victory for Timbermen's Record Books
BCJr.ALL Game Write-Up: Timbermen Raise Stakes: by Jen Mutas
July 19, 2008
The Nanaimo Jr. A Timbermen could have hung up their axes and called it quits today but it wasn't in the minds of the T-Men, whom were down 2-0 in the series.
The Timbermen traveled to Queens Park and opened up a 1-0 lead after 7 minutes gone in the first period. New West answered back with 4 straight goals over 4 minutes to take a 4-1 lead. The T-Men needed a momentum shift and switched goalies; and the Timbermen came back with under a minute to go to cut the lead to 4-2 but the home team scored 20 seconds later to re-establish a 3 goal lead, 5-2.
Down by 3, the Timbermen came out focused for the 2nd period as they took better shots and made the best of opportunities by scoring on approximately 25% of thier shots and shut out the Salmonbellies in the middle frame 4-0. The 2nd is traditionally the hardest period for the T-Men and with the effort they put forth in the second, the team carried all that momentum into the 3rd.
Ryan Forslund began the third period with a great cut through the middle to beat the New West 'keeper and take a 2 goal lead. New West came right back to take it to one goal and both teams traded until the home team tied the game at 8 goals a piece. The game got tighter after that but with about 5 minutes left in the tie game, game standout Colton Clark buried his 5th of the game to put the visiting Timbermen up 9-8. New West pulled their goalie for an extra attacker for about 90 seconds but still couldn't penetrate Nanaimo's 'heart'. Robbie Pierson played stellar ball when called upon. After a couple of saves, a loose ball ensued near centre and before a Salmonbellie player could leave the floor in exchange for the 'keeper, Russ Thomas picked up the ball and outran the New West goalie to the 24' dotted line and buried the ball into the open net to seal the 10-8 victory.
Next up is Game #4; Sunday July 20th, at 5:00pm at the Frank Crane Arena.
Experience the Key!
July 14, 2008
The New Westminster Salmonbellies for a second day in a row, left the Island with a victory and a 2-0 lead in the best of 5 series.
The Timbermen led the majority of both the first and second periods of play but it was the beginning of the third period that sank the T-Men this date.
Allowing 3 unanswered goals to start the 3rd perid, the Timbermen fell behind 8-6 and couldn't surmount a comeback. A good outing for the young and budding Timbermen squad but the playoff inexperience did show... just for a few minutes.
Leading Nanaimo was Cody Bremner (3g, 3a), Jon Diplock (1g, 2a) and Joel Pelletier (1g, 1a); singles from Kevin Lohr, Ryan Forslund and Ryan Dietterle rounded out the Timbermen scoring. Next game for the Timbermen will be Saturday July 19th at 5:00pm as they travel the Strait of Georgia to visit Queens Park Arena. Your Timbermen will look to extend the series to another game; with a victory Saturday, Game #4 will be Sunday July 20th at 5:00pm at the Frank Crane Arena.
Fish Swim Away with Game #1
July 13, 2008
It's playoff time again and the first round opponents of the Timbermen are none other than the New Westminster Salmonbellies, again!
The Timbermen travelled to Queens Park yesterday to play the fish; what they found was, an arena of sharks.
Nanaimo opened the scoring early in the first frame but that was like dropping blood into the Ocean. The 'Bellies then returned the favour, not once but 6 times to end the period with the visitors down 6-1.
Nananimo's Brent Curry received a questionable 4 minute backchecking penalty to start the 2nd period but the rag team responded by putting 2 by the New West 'keeper, killing off the penalty and causing them to call a time-out to regroup. They did so by responding with 2 of their own and keeping the period tied at 6 to 6; the end of two periods being 12-7.
It appeared that Nanaimo's starting off slow had been turned about and they were back into 'playoff' mode but the chain on the saw came off and the 'Bellies responded with 4 more goals in the 3rd to cap off a 16-7 score for Game #1.
Next up is Game #2; today, at 5:00pm at the NIC. This will be the last game in this venue for the Timbermen this season. More games being required will take place at the Frank Crane Arena.
Playoff Opponent Set
July 10, 2008
Playoff opponents are set and the Timbermen will do battle with the New Westminster Salmonbellies for a second year in a row.
The Salmonbellies will host your Timbermen on Saturday July 12th at the Queens Park Arena at 4:00pm. As always, the 'Bellies will not try to be hospitable hosts, nor will the Timbermen care to roll over for the 3rd place BCJrALL finishers.
On Sunday, the Timbemren will return home to face the same New West squad in the last home game at the NIC for 2008. Game time will be 5:00pm. This day will be 'FAN APPRECIATION DAY' where after the game, fans can get autographs from your 2008 Nanaimo Jr. A Timbermen. The floor will be opened up to you, the fans; players will return to the floor in jersey to sign autographs.
Close but no Victories
July 6, 2008
The Junior Timbermen found themselves in an interesting situation this past weekend. Winning one or both games would not advance them up the standings but they could play spoiler to those they faced.
The Shamrocks came to town on Friday night and were welcomed by a near packed house as the home team jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the game. Victoria tied it up later in the period and took a 2 goal lead into the 3rd, 6-4. The Timbermen would not lay down as they tied the game 6-6. Victoria snuck ahead 8-6 before each team got one more to end the game 9-7.
On Saturday, the Timbermen visited the 'Bog in Burnaby' and tried to keep up the same intensity throughout the entire game. The Lakers slowed the play down whenever they could and took the first period 3-2. The Timbermen kept up the pressure in the 2nd period and tied the game 4-4. The Lakers slowly crept ahead in the 3rd and the Timbermen just couldn't muster any more goals. Final score was 6-4 for the Lakers.
Timbermen Involved in Deadline Deals
June 30, 2008
The Nanaimo Jr. A Timbermen would like to announce the acquisition of Tanner Lemire from the Delta Islanders.
Tanner is a 3rd and final year veteran of the BCJr.ALL and a great left handed defender. His leadership on and off the floor, and his passion for the game of lacrosse and his playing ability will assist the Timbermen during their second straight playoff run. Lemire will suit up for the T-Men in their home game against their Island rivals, Victoria Shamrocks.
Next home game is Friday July 4th at the NIC as the Timbermen face the Victoria Shamrocks at 8:00pm. This night will be 'theme night'. The theme is "Hawaain Beach Night"; all fans are asked to come wearing shorts, sandals and Hawaiian shirts, Beach shirts will be acceptable. More details to follow.
Playoff Bound!
June 29, 2008
The Jr. Timbermen played 2 good periods in their 2nd loss of the season to the Port Coquitlam Saints, which took them out of a possibility of acquiring 5th place in the BCJrALL standings.
The Timbermen came out strong carrying a 5-2 margin over the host Saints but it was the Saints whom prevailed with a 10-8 victory, securing a 'no lower' than 5th place finish and a possible playoff match-up with the Burnaby Lakers. The Timbermen on the other hand, now had to travel home to face the constant nemisis, South Fraser Stickmen.
Nanaimo came out 'guns a blazin' with Colton Clark firing the first 3 Timbermen goals past Graham Chandler. With a 5-3 first period lead, it was evident to S.F. that they had to come out hard. The Stickemen did just that and caught the hosts with their guards down as they scored 4 straight goals to make Nanaimo change goalies for a momentum change; after doing so the Stickmen scored quickly to make the score 7-5, Stickmen.
The Timbermen dug down deep to eliminate the 2 goal deficit and take an 8-7 lead into the third. Action went back and forth and it was 11-10 Timbermen with just over a minute left when South Fraser tied the game after going 6 on 5. A 10 minute Overtime ensued and Jon Diplock put the home team ahead 12-11. Frantically, the Stickmen tried to surmount a comeback again but the Timbermen wouldn't allow them another opportunity. Colton Clark ragged the ball for most of the 30 second shot clock and with S.F. putting on extra pressure with their 'tender pulled, Clark found Bremner for the empty net goal with just seconds remaining. Final score 13-11 and the Timbermen again take 6th place and enter the playoffs again, awaiting two games left in their season.
Next home game is Friday July 4th at the NIC as the Timbermen face the Victoria Shamrocks at 8:00pm. This night will be 'theme night and fan appreciation night'. The theme is "Hawaain Beach Night"; all fans are asked to come wearing shorts, sandals and Hawaiian shirts, Beach shirts will be acceptable. More details to follow.
Weekend Split
June 23, 2008
The Jr. Timbermen spent the weekend on the mainland as they faced Delta on Saturday and Coquitlam on Sunday.
Starting out slow, the 'Loggers' could not manage a fast exit from their own end but did manage to outshoot the host Delta club. Unfortunately, the visitors could not put any of their 28 shots past the Islanders Scott Lowe and the Timbermen found themselves down 3-0 at the end of the first period.
In the second period, the Islanders were thwarted on the dismall 5 shots on goal that they had; the Timbermen absolutely controlled the second period of play and dominated that period with Bremner scoring twice and Forslund and Clark getting singles. Sam Corcoran was in net and was playing particularly well throughout this contest. End of two periods; 4-3 for the visiting Timbermen.
Delta came alive in the third, outshooting the visitors 19-12 but managed only a 2-2 tie in the final frame as the visitors finished the game with a 6-5 victory and a 2-1 season series lead; pivotal now that both teams are fighting with Port Coquitlam for the 5th and 6th playoff spots.
Game two of the weekend had the Timbermen in Coquitlam. Coming off a win in Delta, Nanaimo came out very quick and equalled the shots that the Adanacs offered. Diplock opened the scoring shorthanded as Wray sat in the sin bin for high sticking. That seemed to motivate the home team as they poured in 4 straight goals, 2 on the powerplay as the visitors fell behind 4-1 after one period.
The Adanacs got 2 goals in the second period and shut out the visiting Nanaimo squad as neither team could gain a strong hold of the game. Lewis and Dickie were playing superb for their respective teams but it was the A's that managed to ripple the twine.
Nanaimo got on track in the third scoring three but couldn't get enough horsepower to knock down the deficit enough. Final score; Adanacs 8 - Timbermen 4.
Next game is June 28th in Port Coquitlam against the Saints. Next home game is Sunday June 29th versus the troublesome South Fraser Stickmen. Game time is 5:00pm at the NIC.
T-Men; Their Own Worst Enemy
June 11, 2008
The Jr. Timbermen are still not in tune with each other. The Timbermen crew have put together some incredible games over the past month but have not been able to maintain that play as of recent versus the likes of Delta, South Fraser or New Westminster. If the T-Men plan on making a move up the standings and distance themselves from the teams nipping at thier toes; now is the time.
After an injury riddled start to the season, the Timbermen have shown signs of improvement and can play with the league powerhouses but consistency has been their downfall. With games in Delta on Saturday and against Port Coquitlam on Sunday at home; now is when the Timbermen need to 'Sharpen their chains' and 'Ready their Axes' so to speak, to make the late season push up the standings.
Timbermen Defeat 'Bellies on the Road
May 31, 2008
The Nanaimo Timbermen traveled to Queens Park Arena yesterday and played a disciplined 60 minute lacrosse game. They defeated the hometown 'Bellies 9-4 in front of a small but exuberant crowd in New West. Still a young fledgling lacrosse team, all 20 players put together a 'team' effort to come away with the victory.
New West opened the scoring but it was quickly countered 2 shifts later with Forslund getting a loose ball at the side of the net for a one-timer. Bremner followed that with 2 goals to end the period with the T-Men holding a 3-1 lead.
The 2nd period, Dietterle stood in front untouched for the slam dunk goal and then got another his next shift. New West pulled Tessarolo for Hodgkinson at that point. Thomas pulled the T-Men away even further with an outside shot over Hodgkinson before New West got their 2nd of the period to make the score 6-3 after two periods.
The 'Bellies scored just 23 seconds into the 3rd period but that would all they could muster as the Timbermen's Dickie shut the door for the remainder of the period. New West pulling their keeper for an extra attacker backfired as Kelly scooped a loose ball and ran to centre before 1 bouncing his shot into an open net. Bremner (his 3rd of the night) and Pelletier added insurance goals to close out the game and give the visitors a huge win.
The Timbermen are slowly getting their roster back to 100%. A few players are still injured or have been out of the line-up for one reason or another but they have turned a corner in this franchises short history. The teams 'new found' insurgence of energy and philosophy; the Timbermen have found their niche.
The next game for the Timbermen is 5:00pm today at the Nanaimo Ice Centre as they face the Delta Islanders.
'Nacs Shocked but Not Beaten
May 26, 2008
The Timbermen visited the Palace on Poirier Street on Sunday to make ammends for their previous 16-7 loss a week ago.
The first period saw action at both ends and both 'keepers keeping the opposition at bay. Nanaimo killed off 3 minutes of a 4 minute back-checking penalty only to have a powerplay marker go past a screened Corcoran. The visiting T-Men countered with a Pelletier powerplay goal of his own to finish the first period in a 1-1 tie.
Nanaimo missed a check, miscommunicated on the chaser team and found themselves in a mismatch of size on another Coquitlam possession with each resulting in an Adanac goal. Matt Wray replied with a steal to cut the lead to 4-2 at the end of the 2nd.
The first 5 minutes of the third, the T-Men appeared asleep with the home team scoring 3 times and it appeared as though a 7-2 score meant the Coquitlam team was going to walk away with the game but the 'newly rejuvenated' Timbermen squad tirelessly chopped away at the lead and with goals by Mitchell, Clark and a 2nd tally from Pelletier made the score 7-5 and Nanaimo kept on coming. Coquitlam's Weber stopped the last few attempts with Nanaimo's goaltender out to seal the win.
The Nanaimo Timbermen are now raising a lot of eyebrows around the BCJrALL!
Playing with the 'Big Boys' Now
May 24, 2008
It was Harewood Dinner Jacket night at the NIC on Friday night and the hometown Timbermen fans did not go home without something to talk about.
A night that saw the BBQ blazing outside the arena and 'LUCKY' being saught after before the game. Each fan entering the arena with their favourite 'dinner jacket' had an opportunity to win prizes and of course, catch a little lacrosse action.
With the Jr. Timbermen depleted line-up getting a boost with many injured players returning to active play and many returning players and prospects arriving back from school; this game was the first to see virtually a full Jr. line-up. The home team would not disappoint!
The Timbermen opened the scoring but the Lakers tallied two to take a 2-1 first period lead. The home team tied the game a third of the way through the 2nd frame but Burnaby retook the lead one shift later and appeared to be taking another lead into the 3rd but Thomas let a howey go from 40 feet t secure a 3-3 tied going into the final frame. The T-Men took the lead 1:26 into the 3rd and a frustrated Laker team could not tie it up until halfway through the period. Higgs then scored to give the Timbermen a 5-4 lead and goaltender Dickie shut the door and wouldn't allow another goal. With the visitors net empty and extra attacker on the floor, Kelly then grabbed a loose ball and outran two Laker players to score on the open net and then again one minute later to secure the 7-4 victory and the teams first over the Burnaby Lakers.
Weekend Split
May 22, 2008
Nanaimo defeated South Fraser 6-5 on Friday night and dropped a 16-7 decision to the Coquitlam Adanacs on Sunday to split their weekend series last week.
The Jr. Timbermen have had more than its share of ups and downs so far this season. A promising beginning to the season has quickly turned into 'fingers in the dyke' so to speak with a number of players being hit with the injury bug since April 27th.
Only 5 of their top 10 point getters has dressed for all 7 games thus far and that number will drop to 4 for this Friday as Nanaimo will be without the services of Kyle Noble indefinitely. Defensively; only Lohr, Maughan, Flatters and Agius have been in the line-up to backstop that highly-effective offensive teams such as Coquitlam, Burnaby, New West and Victoria.
Players slowly returned from school beginning with Evoy and this week include: Thomas, Dietterle, Lawson, Stewart, Brown and Diplock. All hope to make the return to box a quick and seemless transition to assist in improving the 2-5 Timbermen climb back up the standings.
Nanaimo hasn't had a favourable schedule to begin the year but isn't using that as an excuse for the lack of wins. Numerous players have been asked for their opinions and the same answers keep coming up. "Not enough communication on the floor between players", "Lack of discipline", "Blaming others for personal or team mistakes" are just a few reasons that are mentioned when players were asked.
Draft picks and Jr. B call-up have rescued the Timbermen line-up for the past month but now it is time to see what this team is made of now that the bodies are all back from school.
Burnaby comes to town tomorrow night at 7:00pm and then the Timbermen 'hop on a log' and sail the Straight of Georgia on Sunday to face the Adanacs of Coquitlam.
Check back to this website for more information as the season progresses.
Jr's Get First Victory!
May 5, 2008
After the first two games of the regular season, Nanaimo's young offence had scored 7 goals. It's veteran defence had allowed 20. The Jr. Timbermen woke up on Sunday afternoon to the delight of the 375+ fans at the Nanaimo Ice Center as the hometown Timbermen faced a quick, veteran club in the Port Coquitlam Saints and surprized the visitors by sending them back to the mainland with a loss; an 8-5 defeat.
Getting his first start of the 2008 Jr. A lacrosse season, rookie netminder Robbie Pierson turned away 44 of Port Coquitlam's 49 shots to get his first victory as a Jr. and the teams first victory of the 2008 campaign. The veteran defence guided many of the rookie defenders during the game and led by example, only allowing a marginal number of good shooting opportunities for the visiting Saints. Tyson Humpherville won 10 of 18 faceoffs in the absence of Morgan Mitchell (U19 Team Scotland) in the winning cause.
Leading the way was Colton Clark (3g, 1a), Cody Bremner (2g, 5a), Kyle Noble (2g, 2a), Ryan Forslund (1g, 1a) and assists going to Matt Wray (2a), Nick Agius (1a) and Ethan Jones (1a).
Next up for the Timbermen are their Island rivals, the Victoria Shamrocks. Game time: 8:00pm.
Don't worry about dinner this night! The Jr. Timbermen are having a tailgate party beginning at 5:30pm at the NIC Arena. The BBQ will be a blazin' and the beverages a flowin' in preparation for the Harewood Dinner Jacket Night. Come dressed in blue jeans, work boots and your 'best' Harewood Dinner Jacket to qualify for prizes throughout the game!
'Bellies Spoil Home Opener
April 28, 2008
The Nanaimo Jr. A Timbermen fell to the visiting New Westminster Salmonbellies Sunday afternoon by the score of 9-5.
The hometown Timbermen held a modest 2-1 lead after period #1 and held their own over two periods having the score notted at 4 a piece. The third period was where the Salmonbellies showed their poise and the Timbermen showed their youthful exuberance and inexperience; as the 'Bellies controlled the end of the thrid period posting 5 goals to Nanaimo's 1. The next match for the Jr. Timbermen will be on Friday May 2nd as they travel down the 'Hat for a rematch of their exhibition game opponents, the Victoria Shamrocks; game time at Bear Mountain is 8:00pm. Two days later, the T-Men come back to the friendly confines of the NIC to face the Port Coquitlam Saints on Sunday May 4th, at 5:00pm.
The Nananimo Jr. A Timbermen would like to thank those whom attended their home opener, especially those whom are brand new to lacrosse. Sean Krause (Owner of the Timbermen) was stopped a number of times throughout the game and was given comments about his teams play during their home opener. Exciting, entertaining, face-paced, clean and energetic; were just some of the analogies used when listening to fans. To those 500+ fans whom attended... "Thank you!" We hope to see you again on Sunday!

Trade Announcement
April 7, 2008
NANAIMO- The Timbermen are looking to improve their team and so are the Burnaby Lakers. Goaltender Tom Wray was acquired by the Lakers on the weekend; in exchange, the Lakers sent their 3rd Round draft pick in 2009 and their 3rd Round draft pick in the 2010 Midget Drafts.
The elder of the two Wray's, Tom is a 21 year old, 6' 7", 220 lb. wall of a goaltender. Coming into his final season of Jr. eligibility, Tom will be taking the starting goalie position for the defending BC Champion Lakers; a position left vacant with the graduation of Adam Meakes and with Angus Goodleaf not returning to the 'Bog'. Tom dressed in all 21 regular season games in the 2007 season making 631 saves on 761 shots in 888 minutes played; boasting an 8.78 GAA and an 82.92 save percentage.
The Timbermen have come along way in their 3 years of existance and Tom Wray was a big part of the last 2 seasons. With 4 quality goaltenders in training camp this season, there isn't room for that many goaltenders. The Nanaimo Jr. 'A' Timbermen felt that being a final year goaltender, Tom would and deserves more playing time than could be had. Although Tom is now an opponent, the Timbermen wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours. Tom is a fine young man and he has been a pleasure to have within the organization; the Burnaby Lakers are quite thrilled to have been able to acquire a goalie such as Tom.
Check back to the Jr. Timbermen website (www.jrtimbermen.com) for more news and upcoming signings.
Training Camp - Day 1
April 2, 2008
Tuesday April 1, 2008 was the first on-floor training camp session; it has come and gone and the Jr. A Timbermen were pleasantly surprised by the skill level and effort put forth by the 25 players and 4 goaltenders available to attend session #1.
Notables such as Jon Diplock, Ryan Dietterle, James Lawson (Lindenwood University); Curt Brown, Dean Stewart, Russell Thomas (Simon Fraser University); and Brent Curry (family engagement) were not in attendance due to noted commitments.
The Jr. Timbermen were very pleased to see midget draft pick Andrew Branting come and take advantage of some floor time to show the team what he will be bringing to the team in the coming seasons; Andrew will be looking to earn a spot on the Nanaimo Int. 'A' Timbermen's roster in the coming weeks.
The staff of the Jr. A Timbermen are looking forward to the hard work and high intensity levels that players are putting forth in order to show that they deserve to wear the Timbermen jersey. Over the next few practice dates; each player will be given more than enough opportunity to showcase their individual as well as team talents in order to win a position on the team. If you are such a player looking to make the Jr. Timbermen and have not contacted the team as of yet, do not hesitate. Good luck to all whom are and wish to participate.

Veterans Returning
January 19, 2008

The Nanaimo Junior ‘A’ Timbermen have shored up some key pieces to their defensive core by re-signing 3 players whom will help in the defensive end in 2008.
Andrew Kelly returns to the Timbermen for his 2nd season after an impressive rookie campaign. His 1 goal and 6 assists for 7 points are just an added bonus to what this young man can do on the floor. Shutting down offensive opponents is his forte; and with only 16 minutes in penalties last season, he is expected to continue this defensive dominance in 2008. Andrew is a product of the Peninsula Minor Lacrosse Association and played Intermediate for the Victoria Shamrocks.
Kevin Lohr returns for his final season. Lohr is considered to be one of the best loose ball specialists in the league. His ability to take the ball from end to end in transition is highly touted and will be counted on again for the T-Men in '08. His 4 goals, 3 assists for 7 points and only 26 minutes in penalties is just another key reason for the success of the Timbermen back-end last season. Kevin is also a product from Peninsula Minor Lacrosse and the Intermediate Shamrocks.
Brent Curry returns to anchor the defensive core of the Timbermen for '08. Curry only managed 1 assist in 9 games last season due to an injury but is 100% healthy and prepared to lead this Timbermen squad to the next level of Junior ‘A’ lacrosse. Returning to captain this team in 2008 'is an honour' Curry stated when he signed. His leadership in all facets of lacrosse pertaining to the T-Men is second to none.
The Timbermen are pleased to announce the return of all 3 players for this upcoming season.
